BEYON STANDARD: Custom PlayGround Solutions

Looking For something different?

When thinking of playgrounds, we often picture the classic combination of slide, swing, and climbing frame – functional, colorful, but often interchangeable. Yet playgrounds have long become much more than that: they are meeting places, spaces for experience, and a showcase for their surroundings. While standard solutions serve their purpose, they rarely leave a lasting impression. As a result, cities, municipalities, and operators are increasingly turning to custom solutions with character.

Custom-designed play environments create identity. They spark the imagination and make places truly distinctive. Children usually don’t remember a specific slide or swing, but the experience of playing itself – what they shared with others, as pirates on the high seas, as adventurers in the Wild West, or as witches in an enchanted forest.

Creating exceptional play spaces doesn’t mean reinventing the concept of a playground. Often, a few distinctive elements are enough to significantly increase recognizability and provide the right setting for creative play.

TAHITI VILLAGE – A TROPICAL ESCAPE RIGHT NEXT DOOR

Like being on a tropical island in the middle of nowhere. Our Tahiti Village instantly transports children into a different world. Inspired by traditional stilt houses and tropical architecture, five round huts with thatched roofs rise up to three meters above the ground. The huts are connected by suspension bridges, climbing elements, and walkways, creating an exciting and cohesive play experience. Various access points such as ladders, nets, and ramps add variety while promoting motor skills, coordination, and balance.

The elevated design not only creates a striking visual appearance but also offers ever-changing perspectives and spaces to retreat.

ANIMAL-INSPIRED PLAY STRUCTURES

Whether it’s a whale, a rooster or a cow – actually any animal can be transformed into a play element. Animal shapes often create new and exciting spaces and structures that you won’t find on every playground. Slides, nets and climbing elements can be seamlessly integrated as natural parts of the animal.
At the same time, animal motifs provide a thematic framework for the entire playground. They can reflect regional identity, tell stories, convey knowledge, or simply serve as a design feature. Either way, a play structure shaped like an animal is always a distinctive eye-catcher and a central meeting point within a playground.

THEMED PLAY TOWERS SMALL DETAILS, BIG IMPACT

Take a classic play tower, like the kind found on many playgrounds, and change just one element – for example, the roof. What about a large, crooked witch’s hat? A single feature with a big impact.

Instantly, the theme of witches and magic extends across the entire playground. Details such as windows of varying sizes and naturally shaped robinia wood enhance this effect. Add-ons like a slide or a net tunnel, along with winding interior spaces and climbing elements, ensure maximum play value – because even with a distinctive design, play should always come first.

Less is More – Rethinking the Classic Spring Rocker

They are intuitive to use, promote balance and movement, and appeal to all age groups. It’s exactly this simplicity that makes spring rockers such a popular feature on playgrounds. All the more surprising that their design has hardly evolved over the years. Time for an update: Our minimalist spring rockers are deliberately reduced to the essentials. A solid wooden body combined with steel handles – reminiscent of ears – captures just a few distinctive features of an animal. Enough to spark recognition, yet open enough to leave room for imagination. Sometimes, even a simple robinia trunk is all it takes – the key is movement. Everything else happens in the mind.
